Before braces

My bottom teeth were also protruding and wonky!
This is me when I was 18 before I had braces. It's harder to see from the front but I had a big overbite of around 9mm. My front top and bottom teeth couldn't touch so it was very hard to eat any thin food like wraps or strawberry laces!

I tended to push my bottom jaw forward for photos!

Hello!

Hello! I'm writing this 4 days post-op but intend to tell my story, mostly with photos, from start to finish! I am primarily writing a blog to help anyone who is having jaw surgery in the future, but it will also be nice for me to look back on (and I have 3 weeks of time to fill!)

I am currently 21 years old and live in Hampshire, England. I've just graduated from Exeter University and have waited to get a proper job until after surgery so I don't need to rush recovery. I did have braces when I was 12/13 but, although they made my teeth straighter, they actually made my bite worse. When I was 18, I got put on the waiting list to get braces/jaw surgery as my teeth were getting more wonky and it was becoming harder to eat/breathe through my nose/talk properly and I didn't like my side profile at all, due to my overbite. My bite was bad enough to get completely free treatment under the NHS- a plus side!

Nearly 2 years post-op!
